Steven Spielberg's Terra Nova series delayed until next fall
Fox’s Steven Spielberg-produced series Terra Nova has been pushed back from its planned midseason debut in January to a fall 2011 start date. In a statement, the network said that the show—which involves an ordinary family traveling back through time to the age of dinosaurs in order to save the human race—deserves a “unique launch to distinguish that the show is unlike any other,” and certainly not at all like Land Of The Lost, which everyone will inevitably compare it to anyway. The delay could also have something to do with both its unusually elaborate special effects needs and its apparent lack of a firm cast, with only Life On Mars star Jason O’Mara officially signed on at the moment. Those who can’t wait until next fall, however, will be placated by a sneak preview of the premiere next May, a strategy Fox previously employed to great success with Glee. (Though here’s hoping that’s the last cue Terra Nova takes from that show.)
