Steven Tyler can’t fall in the shower without people thinking he’s drunk
When the 63-year-old frontman of a venerable arena-rock band falls alone in the shower, does it make a sound? If that singer is Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, the answer is “yes.” We imagine it being a loud, crashing sound, followed by an extended litany of profanity and scat-singing. But it also makes a figurative sound, as Tyler learned when his recent tumble sparked speculation that he’d once again abandoned his clean-and-sober ways. A bruised and gap-toothed Tyler appeared this morning on Today to address these accusations, telling Matt Lauer that he merely had some stomach trouble and dizziness, not a drunken bender while staying at the coincidentally named Bourbon Hotel in Paraguay. "Being in the program, it's something we have to expect. I went public with my problems only to address them head on," said Tyler, who called in from Argentina. "You know, people thinking that is natural and normal." Still, people questioning his sobriety “bothers me a little,” Tyler admitted. “It’s something I have to deal with the rest of my life.” [via Billboard]
