Stevie Nicks asks fans to design her a twirling shawl
Patron saint of flowy garments Stevie Nicks has charged her followers with their most important mission since finally registering for that clairvoyance class: to design their Supreme a new twirling shawl. Nicks has joined up with creative agency Talenthouse to launch a contest for a fan to design her a “show-stopping shawl inspired by her mystical visual style and symbolic lyrics.” Nicks will personally choose the winner with a runner-up selected by the Talenthouse community.
“In 1968, a very handsome boy brought me a poncho from South America,” Nicks says in a statement quoted in Rolling Stone. “I knew it was magic and that someday I would copy it in chiffon or leather or beaded material. I realized that wearing a poncho or a long shawl gave me something to work with up on the stage. Big movements, big twirls, you need to be seen from far away. So I made that a big part of my stage clothes. It became totally intertwined in my fashion style.”
The winner will receive final victory over that bitch River, who thinks she’s such hot shit just because she won the cleavage contest at Faire last year and who everyone knows is really named Sarah. He or she will also receive $2,000 to make the shawl and a picture of Nicks wearing their handiwork, before getting the shawl back, presumably for spell-casting purposes. The competition runs through September 29. For inspiration, here’s some classic Stevie twirls in Fleetwood Mac’s Gypsy video:
