Stormy Daniels and a lot of other famous people tell Trump to resign on Saturday Night Live

With Donald Glover (and Donald Glover as Childish Gambino) tandem-hosting last night’s Saturday Night Live, there wasn’t much room for anyone else. At least that was true during the rest of the quite solid show, but the traditional political cold open brought in seemingly every famous SNL alum and host who was in New York in order to mock Donald Trump’s latest foot-shooting idiocy surrounding the Stormy Daniels/lying to the American people/violating campaign law/being a sleazebag scandal. (As opposed to the myriad other venal, racist, sexist, homophobic, shady, or otherwise cretinous scandals emanating from the White House these days.)

Returning to play beleaguered/doomed Trump lawyer/hatchet man Michael Cohen, Ben Stiller kicked the show off by conferencing in Alec Baldwin’s Trump, Kate McKinnon’s grotesquely dumb Rudy Giuliani, Scarlett Johansson’s Ivanka, Jimmy Fallon’s Jared, Martin Short’s Dr. Harold Bornstein, Aidy Bryant’s Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Cecily Strong’s escape-minded Melania, and Leslie Jones’ still-pissed Omarosa. It was all somewhat dizzying and overstuffed, and that was before the big reveal tat Baldwin’s Trump would be making his pitch for rapprochement to the actual Stormy Daniels herself. The adult film star took clear delight in telling Trump—no doubt watching with his customary urge to nationalize all media so people will stop making fun of him—that he should resign. “I know you don’t believe in climate change,” taunted Daniels, “But a storm’s a-comin’, baby.” Cue Trump Twitter storm as soon as he finds his phone.
