Stream A Tribe Called Quest’s new album, We Got It From Here...Thank You For Your Service

It’s been… a week, and while we’re not entirely certain anyone’s looking to feel better or distract themselves just yet, we’d all be remiss in not checking A Tribe Called Quest’s new album, We Got It From Here…Thank You For Your Service. The hip-hop pioneers reunited to work on the album earlier this year, before the death of Phife Dawg (real name Malik Taylor) in April. They announced its arrival late last month, and it’s now streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

For its sixth studio album, Tribe brought in several collaborators, including Busta Rhymes (who’s worked with the group before), Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, André 3000, Talib Kweli, Anderson .Paak, and Jack White. That’s an impressive list of contributors, not that Tribe really needed them. On Thank You For Your Service…, Phife Dawg’s presence is both felt and missed (he named the album), but the group sounds as tight as ever. Q-Tip, Jairobi White, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad trade verses seamlessly, recalling a time when albums were collaborations and not just a lineup of features.

If you want more Tribe, tune into Saturday Night Live tomorrow, when they’ll join guest host Dave Chappelle as the musical guests.
