He’s never done alt-country, though—until now. “Something’s Rattling (Cowpoke),” off the forthcoming Former Lives, is infused with Calexico-style horns and cowboy crooning. Even while moseying around aural Arizona, though, Gibbard doesn’t get lost, maintaining his signature cooing style throughout the track.
