Though they’ve collaborated for more than 15 years, Wilco sideman Nels Cline and innovative New York duo White Out have never actually put out a record together. That’ll change this Friday, when Northern Spy records releases Accidental Sky, the first collaboration between the two avant garde acts. Playing a sort of improvised chamber music, Cline and White Out blend and supplant free jazz, prog, and experimental music, resulting in something that’s part musical performance, part art project.
The A.V. Club is streaming all of Accidental Sky in advance of its release later this week. The record is also available for pre-order now via Northern Spy’s website, and the first 50 early birds will nab a free signed poster in honor of the LP.
