Striking 30 Rock, Daily Show, SNL writers stage live shows

The writers' strike shows no signs of abating for the moment, and the impending absence of some of our favorite shows has left a growing hole in our lazy, trans-fat-covered hearts. But it's not just the viewer who's suffering: Many writers are feeling the loss of their respective creative outlets just as deeply, leading some of them to find alternate routes to entertaining their loyal fans. Only a handful of us A.V. Clubbers live in New York, so just like you we're unable to take much solace in the news that writers and actors from the much-missed 30 Rock and the not-so-missed show it's based on, Saturday Night Live, are gearing up for live stage shows next week. 30 Rock's Monday night stand at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater is already sold out, but vigilant Manhattanites may still be able to catch the upcoming SNL stage version with host Michael Cera, the location of which is still being kept secret. And for all of us stuck in the "flyover" states, we'll just have to make do with this awesome video from The Daily Show writers, made in between clever chant brainstorming sessions.
