Stuntman killed while filming explosion for Expendables 2

A second-unit crew was filming (what else?) an explosion effect for the upcoming Expendables sequel when something went tragically wrong, killing one stuntman and critically injuring another. The two victims were reportedly in a rubber boat atop Bulgaria’s Ognyanovo water reservoir when the bomb mishap occurred; one died instantly, while the other remains in serious condition. (Their names and further details about the incident have not been released out of respect for their families, a representative for the production said.) Meanwhile, director Simon West and the rest of the main Expendables cast and crew were several hours away at the time, filming in Bansko. Production company Nu Image/Millennium Films issued a statement on the accident first reported by the local press, saying, “It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident. Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this accident.”
