Sufjan Stevens tells the Grammys “don’t be racist,” St. Vincent backs him up

As the backlash against The Grammys continues to build, more artists have been voicing their displeasure over the countless issues affecting the show and the Recording Academy. Before the show even aired, Frank Ocean explained why he decided to skip the event, and since Sunday night plenty of people have been vocal about what’s wrong with the show. Sufjan Stevens has now joined in, as a post on Tumblr saw him criticizing the Best Urban Contemporary category, tagging the post with “don’t be racist.” St. Vincent’s Annie Clark then chimed in, backing up what Sufjan said. It all suggests that if The Grammys don’t make an effort to course correct, next year’s ceremony will likely be bereft of the stars they so desperately need.
