Super Troopers 2 has already met its crowdfunding goal
About 26 hours ago, depending on how long it takes us to write this, we reported that the Broken Lizard guys had set up an Indiegogo page to try and raise money to make a sequel to Super Troopers. Apparently, no studios were willing to put up the money to let these guys fuck around with mustaches and police cars, so they had no choice but to ask their fans to offer up the $2 million they would need in order to make the movie.
Now, in the time it would take you to say that the snozzberries taste like snozzberries, the Super Troopers 2 campaign has already raised more than $240,000 over its $2 million goal. That means Broken Lizard can actually make Super Troopers 2 now, free from the expectations of any stupid movie studios—other than Fox Searchlight, which has agreed to distribute the film. According to the campaign’s page, Broken Lizard will now use the extra money to make it the “best movie ever.” Presumably, they will offer full refunds to the donors if that ends up not being the case. Although, they did raise $2 million in a day, and if they maintain that pace for the remaining 30 days of the campaign, they’ll at least have enough money to buy the honor of being the best movie ever.
