Superstore will return, but is this last call for A.P. Bio and Champions?

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Thursday, May 3. All times are Eastern.

Superstore (NBC, 8 p.m.)/A.P. Bio (NBC, 8:31 p.m.)/Champions (NBC, 9:30 p.m.): In the coming weeks, the broadcast networks will separate the quick from the canceled, in preparation for announcing their lineups for the 2018-19 lineups. We already know a few of the shows that’ll be on NBC’s slate: The revived Will & Grace was renewed even before it premiered, then received another season order in March; The Good Place and Superstore will be back for their third and fourth seasons, respectively. So we know that the employees of Cloud 9 will survive tonight’s season finale, but will the students of Jack Griffin’s Advanced Placement Biology class, or the folks down at the Brooklyn Champions Athletic Club? Will they get to continue their contributions to the restoration of NBC’s comedy reputation, or will they be forced out for, say, that Mike Schur-produced multi-cam where Natalie Morales runs a backyard Cheers? And whither Great News? Either way, take a note from the title of another of the network’s in-contention pilots—the Norman Lear-Peter Tolan collaboration Guess Who Died—and check in with A.P. Bio and Champions tonight. Because in television, you never really know when “good night” is actually “goodbye.”

Thursday Night Darts (BBC America, 10 p.m.): Nothing really of note here, other than the fact that BBC America has been broadcasting professional darts, on Thursday nights, since February. It’s all the fun of watching strangers try their luck at flinging tiny projectiles at the neighborhood pub, with none of the worry that you’re accidentally going to step in front of one on your way to get another beer.
