Supporters of Serial’s Adnan Syed are launching a podcast
Supporters of Adnan Syed, the subject of the hit podcast Serial, are launching another podcast about the case. The bi-weekly Adnan Syed Legal Trust, which is backed by Serial figures like Rabia Chaudry and lawyer Susan Simpson, will launch Undisclosed: The State v. Adnan Syed on April 13 and promises “much new evidence and information,” as well as an examination of the case “from an investigatory perspective instead of a narrative one.” Serial’s Sarah Koenig is notably not involved.
Syed and his legal team are currently mounting an appeal on the grounds that the late Christina Gutierrez inadequately represented the defendant. In February, Maryland’s Court Of Special Appeals granted permission for the case to move forward. The Adnan Syed Legal Trust has been crowd-sourcing funding online for Syed’s defense for some time now and, to date, has raised about $93,000.
Both Chaudry and Simpson were guests on The Serial Serial, The A.V. Club’s own podcast about Serial and the case against Adnan Syed.
