Surprise! A lot of bands use “whoa-oh-oh” choruses now

There’s always been grousing about how similar pop music is at any given point. Tons of bands in the early to mid-‘60s started with “The” and boasted a roster of four mop-topped lads. And every Chillwave act of the ‘10s had some plural noun as a name. The latest trend, as the supercut below makes clear, is the “whoa-oh-oh,” a tone made popular by Kesha, Fall Out Boy, Fun, and, apparently, Japandroids. Thankfully, a lot of the whoa-ohs in the clip are (thankfully) fairly distinct from one another, so at least bands aren’t using the same damn ascension of tones, because that would just be ridiculous.
