Confirming that Jesus is definitely having a “moment,” reality mega-producer Mark Burnett has partnered with his wife, former Touched By An Angel star Roma Downey, for a 10-hour docudrama series that will bring the Bible to life for the History Channel. Set to air in 2013, The Bible will retell some of the book’s best-known stories “from Noah’s Ark and the Exodus to Daniel in the Lion’s Den” using a mix of live-action and CGI, as God intended. Depending on your beliefs, of course, it’s a rare branching out into straight-up "reality" for Burnett, who has built his career around shows like Survivor and The Apprentice. But then, what is the Bible but one long competition, where contestants marooned on a rock endure humiliating “challenges,” form shaky alliances, and eventually eliminate each other in the quest for the ultimate prize: to sit at the right hand of the guy who forced them through the whole ordeal in the first place?
