Swervedriver to tour, release first new album since 1998
Swervedriver, the British band that rode the line between its shoegazing contemporaries and the more aggressive sounds of bands like Husker Du, announced the release of a new album today—its first since 1998’s 99th Dream. The band had a pretty incredible run from 1990 (when it released the crushing debut single “Son Of Mustang Ford”) until 1995 or so, when label woes kept its excellent Ejector Seat Reservation from an American release. Similar problems dogged 99th Dream, and the band broke up soon after. In 2008, Swervedriver began playing some occasional reunion shows, and now the band has officially announced the release of a new full-length, due in 2015 to coincide with a decent-sized U.S. tour. One song has surfaced from the reunited band: “Deep Wound” was released as a single and performed on Jimmy Fallon’s show. Tour dates are below, along with “Son Of Mustang Ford.”
