Van Helsing is currently halfway into its first season, which sees Vanessa forced to gather allies against the masses of bloodsuckers who took over the world after a volcanic eruption blocked out all that pesky sunlight. LaBute was effusive in his praise for the network, as well as his confidence in Van Helsing’s future, saying, “We have a wonderful and terrifying road ahead planned for Vanessa, her allies and her enemies. I think this is a world and a story that can be sustained for many years.“ He also said he was ready “to spill a lot of blood along the way,” which is just sort of something you have to say when you’re making a vampire show, apparently.
Van Helsing’s second season will be 13 episodes long; meanwhile, the first season airs Friday nights on Syfy.
