Syfy to pay tribute to Leonard Nimoy this Sunday

As Trekkies (or Trekkers, as Nimoy preferred to call them) worldwide don their black Starfleet uniforms and prepare to launch their beloved Mr. Spock into his eternal rest, Syfy is doing what a network whose name is even tangentially related to the science fiction genre ought to be doing right now: preparing a special five-hour tribute to Leonard Nimoy.

The special block of programming will air this Sunday, March 1, and consist of an episode of the original Twilight Zone featuring Nimoy, Nimoy’s guest arc on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, the 1991 film that marked the final group appearance of the original Star Trek cast. The tribute will air from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. ET/PT. Those who don’t have cable can stream the entire original series of Star Trek on Netflix, followed by the Nimoy-directed Star Trek III: The Search For Spock and Star Trek IV: The Journey Home, followed by some quiet reflection on the ephemeral nature of life.
