SyFy's Eureka won't get those six final episodes after all

Only a week after it was announced that Eureka would wrap things up with six episodes presumed to air in 2013, SyFy has changed its mind. The network issued a statement today saying that “after painstaking consideration” it has “made the difficult business decision” to end the cult show after the fifth season airs next spring. While we’ve often had a lot of fun mocking SyFy’s tenuous grasp on its own image, and its strange, self-loathing turn against all things science-fiction in favor of cookie-cutter paranormal “reality” shows, to be fair, Eureka will have endured six years on the network by the time it’s through, and this at least gives its creative team time to end it properly. Even better, it makes room for way more episodes of Shaky Night Vision Ghost Time Academy. [via EW]
