Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis allegedly had their Expendables fight over $1 million
When it was announced that Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis had parted ways on The Expendables 3 over the latter being “GREEDY AND LAZY,” most of us wondered whether their rift could somehow be put into a specific dollar amount, because we are so very bored of thinking about our own financial compensation for non-famous-people work. As luck would have it, it can: The Hollywood Reporter quotes an "insider source" who says the fallout was over Willis demanding an extra $1 million—to make for a total of $4 million—for his four days of filming. Asking for $1 million per day to smirk in the general direction of Sylvester Stallone created an impasse between the two, the kind that can’t be solved even over a Planet Hollywood VIP Platter. And it ironically led the increasingly mercenary Willis to deem this movie about mercenaries one mission he won’t grudgingly undertake.
Adding insult to the wealthy celebrity’s version of injury, according to THR’s same source, “I think [Willis] was pretty surprised he was replaced in 72 hours by Harrison Ford—a better actor, a much nicer person and a more interesting direction for the film.” When your level of enthusiasm and agreeability is being unfavorably compared to Harrison Ford, it may be time for the sort of self-evaluation you don’t ever have to have, because you are Bruce Willis and other people will continue pay you millions of dollars to star in their movies anyway.
