Sylvester Stallone promises no more PG-13 Expendables, assumes there will be more Expendables
You may have heard about The Expendables 3 producer who has turned the film’s box-office failure into his own personal Rolling Thunder, except the hand in the garbage disposal is diminished gross and the death by shotgun is threatening letters. But the leak of the film several weeks before its August 15 release date is only part of the story, and after several months of reflection—presumably next to a koi pond—Sylvester Stallone seems to have concluded that the movie’s PG-13 rating did it in. Here’s what he told CraveOnline:
“I believe [the rating] was a horrible miscalculation on everyone’s part in trying to reach a wider audience, but in doing such, diminish the violence that the audience expects. I’m quite certain it won’t happen again.”
Stallone’s last comment could be interpreted in a couple of different ways. It could mean that the remainder of the Expendables franchise will show bad guys who may or may not be Nazis bleeding after being shot in the heart from hundreds of years away, thus ensuring a R rating. That’s one interpretation. Or it could mean that Stallone knows that making more Expendables movies is pointless, even if they have ladies in them, and therefore “it won’t happen again” in the sense that the Expendables franchise is over. But it’s probably the first one.
