Taika Waititi is directing an episode of Jon Favreau's Star Wars show
Details are still pretty sparse about Jon Favreau’s new Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, but we do have at least one juicy, enthusiasm-granting tidbit, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter: Apparently, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi will be directing at least one episode of the show. (What do you know: Disney really did manage to get him to do a Star Wars after all.)
Waititi—whose other credits include What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt For The Wilderpeople—isn’t the only known name being recruited for the series, which will serve as one of the major draws for Disney’s planned streaming service. Bryce Dallas Howard, who’s best known as an actress, but who has a few small directorial credits to her name, will also helm an episode of the series, about a Western-esque bounty hunter shooting their way through the outer edges of the galaxy. Dave Filoni, who made a name for himself as one of the primary creative forces behind the animated Star Wars: Rebels, will also direct an episode of the Favreau-produced show, along with Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) and Deborah Chow (Better Call Saul).
