It’s been a couple years since thinkpieces began to emerge about the resurgence of cassette tapes as a medium, and since then the trend has yet to wane. The format has been bolstered by high-profile releases, such as the Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack, and the continued resurgence of tape labels and tape-loving bands. Bloomberg Business recently took a trip to National Audio Company, the last audio cassette company currently operating, to speak to the people who never gave up on tapes. National Audio Company president Steve Stepp regards his company’s business practices to be based on “stubbornness and stupidity,” though it appears those qualities are what helped make tapes profitable once again.
