As reported by Variety, ABC has enlisted Taken series writer Robert Kamen and producer Aaron Kaplan to develop a new drama series. Titled Crush, the show will reportedly involve “a woman who, after her hedge fund crashes, inherits a vineyard in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains.” If that doesn’t sound enough like a TV premise, the woman’s vineyard is also “near a town populated with eccentric people.” All that’s missing is a shocking secret, a love triangle, or some kind of connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this could be the next TV sensation.
Kamen co-wrote all of the Taken and Karate Kid movies (plus a “story by” credit on the 2010 Karate Kid remake), so this is a bit of a departure for him. Kaplan was an executive producer on ABC’s The Neighbors and currently executive produces the network’s Secrets And Lies.
