Tara Reid’s fate is revealed in a new Sharknado 4 trailer

As we previously reported, while the big hook for Sharknado: The 4th Awakens is once again a set of shark cyclones decimating the planet, a secondary hook—at least according to the people who made this new trailer—is finding out whether Tara Reid’s character April was really smashed by that falling piece of shuttle at the end of Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!

But rather than make you wait until next month to watch the movie, this preview answers that question: Of course not. It should be obvious by now that April is this franchise’s Ellen Ripley or Sarah Conner—the Terminator inspiration is made explicit in this trailer with a classically terrible line reading by Reid—so no matter how dead she seems, the filmmakers will probably always find a way to bring her back.

Though the specifics of how April survived remain a mystery (perhaps she took a few steps to the left), the Sharknado marketing team wants you to know that she’s back with a vengeance, centering the brief trailer on a ridiculous training montage where April wallops punching bags and tows vehicles across the frame with only her leg muscles and a hatred of sharks to fuel her. “She’s back, bitches,” proclaims the voice-over. “Kay,” respond half-distracted viewers who thought this whole shark tornado thing was a lot cuter a few years ago.

Anyway, sharks and eye shadow will abound when Sharknado: The 4th Awakens airs Sunday, July 31.
