Ring-tailed lemur Taylor Momsen has been shooed away from the Gossip Girl set for an indefinite hiatus beginning with next Monday’s midseason finale, with her character disappearing for at least four episodes, despite Momsen only appearing in three episodes so far this year. A representative for the show swears that Momsen’s role has been reduced for “strictly creative reasons” rather than the fact that you can’t open a pop-culture website (including this one, now) without reading about how the 17-year-old actress and burgeoning rock star posed for Revolver wearing nothing but a garters-and-guns ensemble, sparked a feud with Miley Cyrus by calling her music “Disney bubblegum shit,” edgily flashed her edgy breasts at an audience during a performance by her edgy band Pretty Reckless, or caused Tim Gunn to brand her as a “diva” and a “brat.” Momsen’s suspension should give her ample opportunity to pursue new, more in-your-face ways to rebel, such as shoplifting a bunch of barettes from Claire’s Accessories because that place is so stupid.
