Taylor Swift and Zayn try to evoke Fifty Shades in new video
There is a certain look that the Fifty Shades Of Grey franchise finds sexy, and it basically follows the textbook definition of the word, involving expensive-looking lingerie, the color red, and fancy locales with mood lighting. Taylor Swift and former One Direction member Zayn Malik were tasked with creating a get-it-on song for the the second film in the trilogy due out next month. The video for their track “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” follows the general Fifty Shades formula.
Swift writhes in a black trench coat at a (sex?) party filled with people in masks. Malik broods in a sleek suit. They are both so consumed with passion that they throw things at walls. There’s an argument to be made that the material is elevated by some Refn-esque lighting, but that’s probably a stretch. Fifty Shades Darker comes out February 10.
