Taylor Swift breaks down as groping trial comes to an end
Though a judge recently excluded Taylor Swift from the lawsuit brought by former radio DJ David Mueller, the ongoing legal drama seems to have taken its toll on the pop star. After shutting down the defense attorney’s attempts to downplay what could amount to assault in a civil trial, Swift was back in court today for closing arguments. The debacle began with Mueller’s alleged assault of Swift in 2013, which led to his firing from KYGO-FM, which in turn prompted him to sue Swift, her mother Andrea, and radio liaison Frank Bell for getting him fired. Swift then countersued, but for just $1, because she’s more invested in serving “as an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts.”
As The Associated Press reports, this morning the jury heard closing arguments from Mueller’s lawyer, who took the opportunity to suggest once more that because the photo from the 2013 meet-and-greet, which Swift claims was taken at the moment Mueller grabbed her ass, doesn’t show her reacting outwardly toward the alleged assault, it proves his client wasn’t groping her when the photo was taken. Swift was seen crying during closing arguments, presumably because she can’t believe she’s dealing with this shit. The jury is now deliberating on the verdict in Mueller’s lawsuit against Bell and Andrea Swit, as well as a decision in the groping trial.
