Taylor Swift’s iHeartRadio Awards-winning streak continues, unsurprisingly
The people who listen to radio have spoken (again), and have declared Taylor Swift their champion (again), as the 1989 artist took home most of the big prizes at this year’s iHeartRadio Awards Brought To You By Clear Channel. You might recall that Swift cleaned up at last year’s awards, in which case you might also recall toggling between AM/FM frequencies (or is that just us?). In any case, the iHeartRadio Awards presented Swift with multiple heart-eyes emoji, i.e., the awards for Album Of The Year, Best Female Artist, and Best Tour (that last one is well deserved, if only for reviving Phoebe Buffay’s career). Swift also won the Most Meme-able Moment Award for agreeing to appear in her “Blank Space” video with mascara running down her face (pictured above).
There was enough love (or “heart”) left over for Calvin Harris, who took home Best Dance Artist, as well as Selena Gomez, who was awarded “Biggest Triple Threat,” probably in an effort to get out in front of the critical acclaim that awaits her performance in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. The Innovator Award went to U2, presumably for figuring out a way to piss off millions of iPhone users. Fetty Wap was dubbed Best New Artist, Adele nabbed Song Of The Year for “Hello,” and Pitbull added Best Latin Artist to his list of monikers. Everyone who doesn’t listen to radio will be happy to discover these promising new artists when they take over the YouTube waves next year.
