TBS cancels Sullivan & Son
Finally proving, once and for all, that a sitcom set in a bar cannot ever work, TBS has canceled Sullivan & Son. The series starred co-creator Steve Byrne as Steve Sullivan, a guy named Steve who quits his job as a high-priced lawyer to help his elderly father run a bar. His father—played by Dan Lauria—was not named Steve, but his last name also Sullivan, thus forming the eponymous Sullivan and son. Its third season—which just wrapped up in September—will now be its last, meaning viewers will never get an answer to whatever bar-and-Steve-related cliffhangers the finale ended on.
TBS already canceled another one of its only original scripted comedies, Men At Work, back in May. Presumably, it needed to make some room for the season of American Dad that it just picked up, as well as its new batch of upcoming comedies like Buzzy’s, Angie Tribeca, and Your Family Or Mine. This Newswire is about Sullivan & Son, though, so let’s give it a proper sendoff and say “cheers!” one last time for the only sitcom about a bar that we can think of right now.
