TBS is making a scripted series based on Notorious B.I.G. lyrics

Get a grip, motherfuckers: TBS has announced that it’s developing a new show based on the lyrics of slain rap superstar The Notorioius B.I.G. Think B.I.G. is being developed by media conglomerate Mass Appeal, and “will chronicle the misadventures of an inner-city teen desperately trying to create a better future for his daughter and infant son.”

If the show is a hit, we can only hope it’ll lead to more TV series based entirely on beloved rap lyrics. Maybe a CW supernatural drama based on Kanye West’s “Monster”—complete with Jay-Z as some sort of snow golem, immune to the bloodsuckers trying to draw blood from his ice-cold veins—or a slice-of-life 24-style show set in Ice Cube’s famously chronicledIt Was A Good Day.” (We might pass on the cooking show where Digital Underground teaches people how to make their “oatmeal lumpy” and eat crackers and licorice via “The Humpty Dance,” though.)
