Teacher loses job over Daniel Clowes book

Proving that schools are still among the dumbest places in America, a teacher in Connecticut has been more or less forced out of his job after giving a ninth-grade student a copy of Daniel Clowes' Eightball #22 comic book. Following a controversy in which the book was mislabeled as pornography, the teacher has resigned, the Hartford Courant reports. A post over at Comics Reporter sums it up nicely: "t is not an outcome based on what anyone learned but instead was inexorably determined by what a few people were quick to presume."
