Its thirst for melancholy teen vampires in snowbound settings only intensified by the American remake, A&E’s gnawing, unholy need for content has driven it to develop a TV version of Let The Right One In. Originally told in book form by John Ajvide Lindqvist, the story was first made into a film (and a very good one at that) by Swedish director Tomas Alfredson back in 2008, followed by the aforementioned English-language remake starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee, Let Me In, in 2010.
But that was like five years ago, and one year is as a lifetime to an accursed creature like A&E, which is developing the series with the help of Teen Wolf showrunner Jeff Davis and Teen Wolf actor/screenwriter Brandon Boyce. Davis and Boyce’s concept involves moving the setting of the story to Vermont (Let Me In was set in New Mexico, and Let The Right One In in Sweden) and a serialized element in the form of a “federal marshal with a mysterious past of his own.” The marshal comes to town to investigate a series of “strange murders” that we assume have something to do with vampires, because this is a vampire story, and brooding, shirtless adolescents, because it‘s the showrunner of Teen Wolf.
