Tell Me You Love Me: "Episode 6"

Tell Me You Love Me: "Episode 6"

Twice in my notes for this episode I've written, "That's explicit!" I'm not sure how they faked the Jamie/Boone From Lost sex scene. Or the Dr. May/Silver Fox Husband sex scene. The eventual DVD release could include the sort of special effects showcase usually reserved for Star Wars DVDs.

Oh yeah, other stuff happened too. Dr. May told Dave and Katie simply not to have sex. That should be simple enough since they're not having sex anyway, but those instructions seemed to have rocked their world. Is she just using reverse psychology? Apparently not, since she tells Silver Fox Husband about her advice and gets a cryptic line about telling them what their therapist told them years ago. Huh?

Also on the Dr. May front, she has coffee with the mysterious other suitor who is also Palek's dad. (He is Palek's dad, right? I've lost my scorecard.) And speaking of Palek, who thinks that telling Carolyn that he just doesn't want to have kids was a good idea? And who thinks that his meeting Jamie (worlds collide!) is bad news for everyone? And does anyone think that her "I was having sex with you out of revenge"/"No I have was having sex with you out of revenge!" conversation with Boone From Lost might not be the most solid foundation on which to build a relationship?

I'm guessing we'll find out. But I also know that the show was picked up for a second season. I would assume that that these storylines will be resolved and next year will feature Dr. May helping out a different set of couples and not that we'll end with a cliffhanger. If not, I'll be one unhappy TV blogger. I've grown used to what could politely be called the show's stately pace, but I'm going to need some sort of closure. Grade: B

Stray observations:

– The show's "MILF Banger" website may be the least explicit sexually explicit website in existence. After visiting it purely out of professional obligation, I can tell you that the actual milfbanger.com looks nothing like it.

– Carolyn's favorite author is Victor Hugo. Oddly enough that tells me nothing about her character.

– Holy crap, I didn't notice that that was Ronny Cox (best known as the guitar picker from Deliverance and the evil corporate guy from Robocop as Dr. May's mysterious other man until I hit the credits.

– Katharine Towne never stops squinting.
