Terrence Malick cuts Rachel Weisz and a whole bunch of other people from his next movie

In the endless separating the chaff from the wheat that is Terrence Malick's post-production process, First Showing reports that—like erstwhile Thin Red Line stars Mickey Rourke, Gary Oldman, Bill Pullman, Lukas Haas, and Viggo Mortensen before them—the director has cut stars Rachel Weisz, Jessica Chastain, Amanda Peet, Michael Sheen, and Barry Pepper from his upcoming To The Wonder, possibly in favor of actual shots of wheat. Weisz made the revelation to Italy's La Stampa, which quoted her as saying that she " had the experience of working with him [Malick] but I will not have the pleasure of seeing my work," suggesting that the role she spent several days filming didn't make the final cut. (Or that Weisz is going blind, or she finds watching herself on screen physically painful; there is so much that can be lost in translation.)

While the principal ensemble of Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Javier Bardem, and Olga Kurylenko remains intact—in addition to the basic storyline of a man reconnecting with a woman in his hometown, after impulsively marrying a European—the cast lists on both IMDb and the Toronto International Film Festival (where the film premieres next month) have all been scrubbed of the above names, tossing them out into the celestial abyss to wander, searching forever like children lost in twilight, or maybe just do some other movies.
