Teti’s mom gives Selfie an “F-minus,” but Gotham gets high marks
In Mom On Pop, Bonney Teti—mother of A.V. Club senior editor John Teti—shares her unfiltered thoughts on the pop culture of the day.
Mom joins me again at our virtual podcast studio in the cloud to chat about two new shows for the 2014 fall season: ABC’s Selfie and Fox’s Gotham. The former is a Pygmalion-inspired sitcom about a recovering social-media narcissist, and the latter is a stylized crime drama that centers on the early career of Batman cop James Gordon. Before we dig into all that, though, Mom shares her latest tales of customer-service woe and comments on the curious purchases made by strangers at CVS. We also compare notes on a startling Married At First Sight revelation that emerged on last week’s reunion show.
A quick program note: As you might have gathered, Mom On Pop’s “time slot” on The A.V. Club has been moved from Friday to Monday. (The schedule remains the same otherwise: new episodes every two weeks, barring catastrophe.)
Mom On Pop is available on iTunes, and there’s a podcast RSS feed if you want to subscribe to the show in other apps. Never miss an episode!
