Teti’s mom on Cosmos, Carson, and her vendetta against the post office

In Mom On Pop, Bonney Teti—mother of A.V. Club senior editor John Teti—shares her unfiltered thoughts on the pop culture of the day.

For this installment of her ongoing pop-culture forum, Mom watched a couple episodes of the recently concluded Cosmos and read Henry Bushkin’s memoir of his time with Johnny Carson. Mom occasionally found Cosmos to be “scary,” and we explore why that is. Carson, meanwhile, may be less frightening than Neil DeGrasse Tyson, but he’s no less fascinating, and we discuss his legacy as the heyday of The Tonight Show fades further into the distance. Plus, Mom had a little run-in with the U.S. Postal Service that she’s eager to talk about, as the post office has made her list, literally.
