Teti’s mom pans Captain America: Civil War for its excessive blingety-blang
In Mom On Pop, Bonney Teti—mother of A.V. Club editor-in-chief John Teti—shares her unfiltered thoughts on the pop culture of the day.
Having recently given her seal of approval to Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Mom returns to the big-budget blockbuster beat in this episode with her review of Captain America: Civil War. But she’s not too happy about trading in droids and lightsabers for shields and spandex, and Civil War comes in for some harsh criticism, especially for its surplus of “blingety-blang.”
We also talk about Mom’s recent travels and play another round of “Was Abby Right?” as Mom once again passes judgment on one of America’s most prominent advice columnists. And while we’re chatting about Dear Abby, the idea strikes us to invite questions from the listeners themselves—cutting out the nationally syndicated middleman. So if you have a question for Mom about life, love, etiquette, or anything else, send it to askmom [the at symbol] avclub.com, and maybe she’ll answer it in the next podcast! Plus, Mom’s looking for your summer TV binge-watching suggestions, so send her a tweet if you have a series old or new you think she might enjoy.
Mom On Pop is available on iTunes, and there’s a podcast RSS feed if you want to subscribe to the show in other apps. Never miss an episode!
