Teti’s mom pans Mulaney and SNL’s new-look Weekend Update
In the Mom On Pop podcast, Bonney Teti—mother of A.V. Club senior editor John Teti—shares her unfiltered thoughts on the pop culture of the day.
In this installment of Mom On Pop, Mom shares her disappointment in Mulaney as we piece together where the show went wrong and how it might yet right the ship. From there, we get into Mom’s reflections on Saturday Night Live’s past, present, and future. She was delighted with Bill Hader’s return, but she’s not crazy about the recent moves at the Weekend Update desk. Plus, Mom shares some of her least favorite words. That’s right, she’s even reviewing the language now.
We also picked the winner of our listener contest. Congratulations to loyal listener Colliewest, whose snack-eating, podcast-enjoying self-portrait was chosen at random to take home the prize package seen below:
Colliewest’s Mom On Pop goodie bag—curated by Mom herself—includes a T-shirt emblazoned with New Hampshire’s “Live Free Or Die” state motto, a box of Count Chocula, a maple-sugar pumpkin made from New Hampshire maple syrup (accept no substitutes), two Super Mario K’Nex figurines, and a Simpsons Lego figurine. That’s a nice Halloween haul. Thanks to everyone who entered—we’ll have a new contest next time!
Mom On Pop is available on iTunes, and there’s a podcast RSS feed if you want to subscribe to the show in other apps. Never miss an episode!
