That Guardians Of The Galaxy post-credits stinger is getting its own comic book
Marvel Comics has decided to capitalize on a very special moment. It’s that emotional moment after you spent precious minutes sitting through the end credits of Guardians Of The Galaxy. That moment when you were hoping for an exciting post-credits stinger, but were rewarded with a brief throwaway joke about a character you barely remembered existed—that beautiful moment when you turned to your friend and said, “So that happened.” /Film reports that Marvel Comics will be putting out a sequel to that post-credits scene featuring Howard The Duck. Here’s the cover image to whet your profound disinterest:
The story, which will appear in Howard The Duck #2, recounts the tale of how America’s third-most-famous cartoon duck ended up in the clutches of The Collector. (Apparently, it’s a more involved scenario than simply “James Gunn was high one night.”) Even Marvel’s promotional synopsis can’t seem to get itself very excited about this one:
“Howard’s first big case has taken him across the universe and landed him in the clutches of The Collector! But he’s not alone as the very popular Rocket Raccoon is a prisoner as well! Have you ever seen a comic book sequel to a post-credits scene in a movie? Well, you will now!”
Throwing Rocket Raccoon into this seems like a smart way for Marvel to push some of its less popular characters. Look forward to Rocket’s additional impending imprisonments alongside Super Sabre, Maggott, and Squirrel Girl. The new Howard The Duck comic begins in March, with this issue appearing in April.
