That Jimi Hendrix biopic really, really won't have any Jimi Hendrix music at all

Back in May it was revealed that the upcoming, André 3000-starring Jim Hendrix biopic would not have any actual Jimi Hendrix songs, due to his estate's insistence on reserving their rights for more dignified and respectful things, like holograms. And now that everyone on the Internet has made their Jackie Jormp-Jomp jokes, we can finally get down to talking about just how little Jimi Hendrix this Jimi Hendrix movie will have: It will, in fact, have no Hendrix at all, at least as far as the music is concerned. Instead the film will take a Backbeat-like approach and feature several covers that Hendrix performed in his 1966-1967 pre-fame years before breaking out with original material—studio musician-recreated songs like "Hound Dog," "Wild Thing," Muddy Waters' "Mannish Boy," and The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" that were much easier to obtain the rights to, and which producers tell Rolling Stone were always the songs they had in mind for their Jimi Hendrix movie, why would anyone expect anything else? And for those who may still be worried that a biopic of a famous musician without even a hint of the music that made him famous could somehow be ridiculous, rest assured that André 3000 has a big Afro wig.
