That Ratchet & Clank movie is still happening, and here’s the full trailer
It’s never too late to make an adaptation of a relatively popular video game, or at least re-tell a fleshed-out version of the original game. That seems to be the plan for Ratchet & Clank, a feature-film retelling of the first 2002 Playstation 2 game. Whereas the teaser trailer we saw earlier this year offered a brief montage of images from the movie, this one adds an emphasis to the actual story, giving us a sense of Ratchet, his robot buddy, the arrogant Captain Qwark, and Chairman Drek, whose nefarious plans to create a new world for himself and the Blarg seem fully intact. We get some glimpses of the many gadgets that made the games so fun, as well as a look at some of Ratchet’s training sessions. Also, the film features some solid vocal talent, including Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, Bella Thorne, Rosario Dawson, and Sylvester Stallone. Still, the trailer gives off a little too much of a “focus-tested to death” vibe, with its frenetic pacing and leading jokes. Here’s hoping that when April 2016 rolls around, the movie proves superior.
