That series based on The Mist is actually happening

With the blood of Under The Dome’s bisected cow still warm on the ground, another Stephen King story is about to be adapted into a TV show: The Mist. That comes from Deadline, which says the project was spearheaded by writer Christian Torpe (creator of the Danish series Rita) and has the “blessing” of King—who also gave his blessing to Under The Dome, which is merely a statement of fact and not a knock on the judgement of one of America’s most beloved authors.

As people with reasonable memories may recall, The Mist was originally a novella, and it was adapted into a movie by Frank Darabont in 2007. A TV version of the story—which would be cut into a 10-part miniseries—has been in the works since 2013. We don’t know if the 10-part thing is still part of the plan now that the project is moving forward, but Deadline does imply that this will be an “original story” that isn’t really an adaptation of the novella and its grocery store-based drama. However, it will still revolve around “a seemingly innocuous mist that seeps into a small town” and is full of horrible monsters. Also, while the novella specifically holds back any concrete explanation for what’s happening, the show will apparently “explore” the story “in greater depth.” We just hope the explanation makes more sense than literally everything that happened on Under The Dome.
