That Spider-Man musical is probably going to kill somebody

The forthcoming U2/Julie Taymor musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, essentially The Hobbit of Broadway for the way its creators have ignored all signs that it probably shouldn’t continue, has already begun racking up an impressive injury count, with cast member Kevin Aubin’s recent announcement that he broke both wrists during a flying demonstration followed by today’s revelation that another actor broke both of his feet doing the exact same stunt. Apparently, the move involves being catapulted “in a kind of slingshot effect” from the back of the stage to the lip. Hey, maybe don't do that. It's in addition to the multitude of cables that will swing performers over the heads of audience members in the orchestra section and up toward the mezzanine—without any nets, of course. This is going to work out great!
