That woman with blades for feet in Kingsman is now a lead in Star Trek 3

There’s all sorts of reasons to be optimistic about the next Star Trek film. It’s being directed by Justin Lin, the guy who made the Fast & Furious movies fast as well as furious. It’s being co-written by Simon Pegg, who knows from Star Trek. (And Star Wars, if you want to have a fun debate about that in the comments.) Idris Elba’s in it. It’s not going to be a thinly-veiled “9/11 was an inside job” allegory. All good things, to which you can now add information that may or may not be good, because we haven’t seen her in many films yet. Deadline reports that Sofia Boutella, who played the ridiculous woman with blades for feet in Kingsman: The Secret Service, has been cast in a lead role in the next Star Trek film.

Boutella, who was born in Algeria, came to attention when she landed the lead role in StreetDance 2, the U.K.’s hilariously on-the-nose imitation of the Step Up films. From there, she snagged the Kingsman role as well as co-headlining the upcoming Monsters: Dark Continent. No word yet on whether she will be a villain or hero in this third outing of the new Trek films, but given her experience with being CGI-ed into a part-metal, part-person character, adding a Klingon forehead seems easy.
