The A.V. Club at Austin City Limits

Hello fans of self-indulgent music reporting-

Since I have the home field advantage—and because there's nothing I love more than spicing up my rock 'n' roll experience with diligent note-taking—starting tomorrow and through Sunday, I will once again be reporting daily from the Austin City Limits festival. Every night after I get home (which just might be earlier than ever, considering the dearth of good, non-$40-to-see-the-Butthole-Surfers after-shows this year) I'll be pouring my sunburned little heart out on the day's various events, poking fun at people's festival attire, and giving short shrift to all the bands you love so you can eviscerate me for it in the comments. So whether you're attending ACL and you need a daily refresher on all the awesome memories you've already Shinered away, or you want the vicarious experience of going to a show with me without the secondhand smoke, I hope you'll join me here each day as I take you through all the good, not-as-good, and goddamn boring Jack Johnson disciples playing the Zilker Park dustbowl.

This year's lineup includes: Foo Fighters, Beck, David Byrne, Gnarls Barkley, The Mars Volta, The Swell Season, Conor Oberst, G. Love And Special Sauce, N.E.R.D., Erykah Badu, John Fogerty, Robert Plant And Allison Krauss, Roky Erickson, The Raconteurs, Neko Case, Silversun Pickups, Band Of Horses, Spiritualized, MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Tegan And Sara, Against Me!, Sharon Jones And The Dap-Kings, Alejandro Escovedo, Iron And Wine, Gogol Bordello, Jamie Lidell, Man Man, Okkervil River, Jakob Dylan, The Black Keys, The Kills, Jenny Lewis, M. Ward, Drive-By Truckers, Fleet Foxes, The Fratellis, CSS, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Blues Traveler, Mates Of State, Shooter Jennings, Yeasayer, and about 100 more.

To be honest with you, this doesn't exactly blow me away like years prior. But I guarantee we'll have fun anyway.*

your friend,

sean.
