The After Show Post Party Wrap Up Extravaganza

Ever since Joan and Melissa Rivers were banished to the nether regions of cable-dom (The TV Guide Channel), E! has been scrambling to line red carpets with someone, anyone, willing to hold a microphone in front of all those Mystic-tanned celebrity faces.

After Star Jones grotesquely deflated before our eyes, and Kathy Griffin said something a bit too funny, E! turned to their very own stable of talent––including that guy with the spiky hair, the blond girl with the lisp, and (my favorite) Giuliana DePandi––for microphone-holding duties.

Which brings me to E!'s live, three-hour-long post-show coverage of last night's Golden Globes. Did anyone catch this? It was way more fun to watch than the show itself, and maybe even more fun to watch than E!'s three-hour-long pre-show coverage (aka Isaac Mizrahi Gets In Everyone's Personal Space).

The best part was something called "The One-on-One Lounge," a makeshift bar set up outside the awards that was, essentially, a giant ad for Grey Goose vodka and for Ms. DePandi's uniquely gruff interviewing technique. One by one, she would force the winners to sit down, hold their own microphone, and then watch a clip of themselves accepting their award.

It went something like this: DePandi: [with no discernable interest in her voice] "Check out this clip of you right when you won. So you're walking to the stage. 'Oh my God. Oh my God,' you're probably thinking. What were you thinking?" Random Actress: [Looking at monitor] "Uhhhhh…Umm. Gosh. I was like, "Oh my God. I can't believe it?" DePandi: "Uh-huh. Congratulations! Wanna try a Grey Goose Golden Globe cocktail?"

Did I dream this, or did it actually happen?
