The Alamo Drafthouse and RZA are opening an awesome kung fu bar on Staten Island

Here’s another reason going to the movies is infinitely better than streaming: themed movie bars. Sure, you can drink a six pack on your couch while watching Netflix, but why not get drunk at a themed kung fu bar?

Wu-Tang Clan frontman and martial arts movie aficionado RZA has teamed up with the Alamo Drafthouse for a kung fu-inspired bar at the company’s upcoming Staten Island location. Earlier today—which also happens to be the very first official Wu-Tang Clan Day and the 25th anniversary of the hip-hop group’s debut album, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)—the Drafthouse announced plans for The Flying Guillotine bar in a press release and video.

The theater chain is known for its themed bars, like the Brooklyn location’s freaky House of Wax lounge, Austin’s carnival-themed watering hole Barrel O’ Fun, and an VHS video store bar in the Raleigh, North Carolina theater, but this sounds like it could be the best one yet. Designed like a Chinese temple, The Flying Guillotine will have everything you’d expect, like themed cocktails, kung fu movie trivia nights, a ton of posters and memorabilia you can buy, and—get this—a free video store. RZA enthusiastically breaks down the highlights in a virtual tour video:

The Staten Island theater, which is set to open in late 2019, will also host cult kung fu movies every month. Martial arts fan or not, it’s probably worth checking this place out just to see RZA sip a cocktail and talk about how he’s seen The 36th Chambers of Shaolin 300 times. And now, at least we have a reason to go to Staten Island for once.
