The all-lady 21 Jump Street spin-off may have nabbed its director

While the bizarro 21 Jump Street/Men In Black collaboration MIB 23 has apparently been abandoned on the weird movie mash-up idea launching pad, another Jump Street spin-off is moving steadily ahead. Deadline reports that the untitled, women-led Jump Street movie that was announced last year is in the process of acquiring a director, with 22 Jump Street writer Rodney Rothman in talks to helm the film.

Rothman’s other writing credits include Grudge Match and Late Show With David Letterman; if he takes this new project, he’ll be making his directorial debut. The new Jump Street movie also recently acquired a well-stocked writing team, with Bob’s Burgers writers Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux, and Broad Citys Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs, all having been tapped to work on the script. There’s no word yet on which actresses will star in the film, or what sorts of winking, surprisingly successful meta-comedy they’ll be forced to endure.
