The Amazing Race makes extreme blind dating a thing

Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Wednesday, February 25. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

The Amazing Race 26 (CBS, 9:30 p.m.): What’s worse than a blind date? A blind date that’s televised to millions of strangers and involves traipsing around the globe collecting clues in a high-stakes reality competition. The Amazing Race is back for its 26th season with 11 dating couples. Six of those couples have been together since before the competition, while five are just meeting for the first time at the starting line at California’s Castaic Lake. This honestly sounds like a blind date from hell.

Also noted

Survivor: Worlds Apart (CBS, 8 p.m.): Also returning to the reality television lineup is Survivor, which kicks off its 30th season tonight. Thirty seasons. The 18 new contestants are divided into groups based on their occupations: White Collar, Blue Collar, No Collar. It’s Survivor: Capitalism!

Empire (Fox, 9 p.m.): On “The Lyon’s Roar” (okay, Empire can get away with a lot, but that episode title deserves a very dramatic Cookie eyeroll), Cookie convinces Lucious to bring the warring brothers together for a legacy album. Hopefully the music is all better than whatever that disaster song about microwave ovens was last week. Meanwhile, Andre continues to spin out of control. Maybe he should start taking his meds again? Just an idea! Maybe Anika will sneak more vials of drugs into someone’s drink!

Broad City (Comedy Central, 10:30 p.m.): Jaime becomes a U.S. citizen on tonight’s Broad City. Also, Bevers is back, but did we ever really miss him? Caroline Framke certainly didn’t, but she’s back on the Broad City beat tonight.

Schitt’s Creek (POP, 10 p.m.): Do you have bad parents? Tonight’s Schitt’s Creek is all about bad parents, with an episode titled “Bad Parents.” Even if you’re still not entirely sure what Pop TV is, watch this show! It’s very funny!

The Cabin In The Woods (Syfy, 7 p.m.): This is a horror movie for horror movie fans. Cabin interrogates the tropes of the slasher genre, pulling in influence from H.P. Lovecraft along the way. Take a tequila shot every time someone is killed. And let this be a warning to never go with a bunch of attractive friends to a secluded cabin in the middle of the woods.

Selena (Fuse, 8:30): Is 2015 the year of J.Lo or is every year the year of J.Lo? Revisit one of her earliest films, and you decide!
